AEW wrestler and guitarist Andy “The Butcher” Williams died tragically during a wrestling event, and longtime NHL analyst Barry Melrose died following a battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Former NBA player Michael Sweetney died, and his death was connected to his former team which won the NBA Finals earlier this year. Benjamin Satterley, another AEW star, died just weeks after the death of Andy Williams in yet another bizarre wrestling tragedy.
I believe highly publicized court cases can serve as distractions from other events taking place simultaneously, and the intense public attention surrounding the Lindsay Clancy case illustrates how effectively such cases can capture the minds of the masses. The general public was captivated by the case which was ruled a mistrial on September 4. After returning to court on September 29, it was announced that a new hearing would be held on November 2. September was a considerably lighter news month than August was, specifically regarding high-profile celebrity deaths. I do want to acknowledge that I’ve spent the last couple of months writing about why I believe this year’s World Series winner will be the Chicago Cubs. I also have my doubts about the Tampa Bay Rays winning the American League this year despite them having the best record in the league.
